Where do Different Types of Delta THC Come From?
The cannabinoids we’re focusing on, Delta 8, Delta 9, Delta 10, and Delta 11, are all naturally occurring. You can find them in cannabis and hemp plants grown on farms and in the wild.
However, hemp plants only produce these cannabinoids in small amounts. For Delta 9, that’s based on a regulatory issue. As we mentioned previously, federally legal hemp plants can only have a maximum Delta 9 content of 0.3%. The other three cannabinoids simply occur naturally in smaller quantities.
For that reason, many hemp-derived products rely on chemical conversion processes. This process transforms a more available cannabinoid into a Delta THC. We’re not aiming to rank these four cannabinoids by the overall experience they offer. That’s a little too subjective. Instead, we’ve organized Deltas 8-11 by overall potency in terms of psychoactive effects. This ranking is based on initial research, user reports, and other anecdotal evidence.

Delta 11 is one of the newest cannabinoids to emerge in the federally legal, hemp-derived market. Because it’s only been available for a relatively short time, we’re still learning more about it.
That said, it appears Delta 11 is especially potent.
Herb points out that Delta 11 may be as much as three times stronger than Delta 9, based on preliminary findings. We’ve also heard that Delta 9 offers strong psychoactive effects from some of our own users. Delta 9 itself is roundly recognized as more potent than Delta 8 and Delta 10. That puts Delta 11 in the No. 1 spot.
If you’re an experienced user or simply looking for a more intense high, Delta 11 is a good place to start. Just be sure to take a conservative approach to dosing if you haven’t tried it before.
